I have a 13 year old RES. I've noticed in the last two weeks that her
tank has a very bad smell coming from it, almost like something is
rotten. She also has not been basking like normal, and her shell seems

to be coming off more than usual, and much before it looks like it
should. She's been eating less than normal, but she's still eating.
I've never had this happen and I'm not sure what to do...thanks!

I'm not a specialist but i've got lots of water turtles so here is what
i have learned about what you discribe Your turtle may have a fungus
or shell rot. It may also have an infection of a bacterial nature. I
usually treat them with a dip. you can get an anti fungal anti
bacterial dip in any good pet store.
You should treat her tank as well. I would do a complete change of
water and clean all objects including the filter. A trip to the vet if
symptoms don't start clearning up soon or if this has been going on a
bit or the second she stops eating would be a good idea as well. Good
luck with your reeves I've wanted one for a while now. Take care of
her.
I often also treat obvious spots with A and D ointment antibacterial
make sure it has vit A and Vit D in it
