I go nuts when I'm watching a movie, and the someone is going through the
woods, and happens across a supposedly dangerous animal, when it is in
fact an albino burmese python, or an albino corn snake.

That drives me nuts.

NUTZ I TELL YOU!!!!

The Passion of the Christ is the most recent offender in this area. The
serpent in the Garden of Gethsemane was an small albino burmese python:
the goldfish of herpetoculture. If they want a snake to represent evil
they should have used something like Vipera russelli or Bitis arietans.

They could have even used Vipera xanthina palaestinae, if they wanted use
something native to the area.

On the other hand, I appreciated Kill Bill vol 2, because the Black Mamba
was actually a Black Mamba.

Two thumbs up for KB2

Not too start a big "venomoid vs. nonvenomoid" flame war but I saw an
interview with Quentin T.

He mentioned that the snake was a venomoid (though he didn't use that
term). I believe he also said that he intentionally allowed the snake to
bit him, so he could say he had been bitten by a mamba or some such thing.

He's a crazy MOFO.

That's one way to slick it back, if you know what I'm saying.

They use pythons because they are:
-Big and scary.
-Not poisonious.

Of course, anyone who sees a snake with a narrow
head (unless it's a huge snake) understands it
carries no venom. There are few exceptions.
But Joe Public doesn't know that.
What might be funny is if they make a movie
about a coral snake, plan to sub a king snake
and by accident put a real coral snake in.
